This is an authentic Civil War ID tag that was in dad’s collection for many years. It was given to me with other items prior to his passing in 1990. The dentils around the edge of the medal are still very good. The only wear I can see is the word Union on the shield is worn but still readable. The wording says: Against rebellion, 1861. The reverse is also very fine and the stamped lettering is Cor Smith Co. B 7th MD Vol. The Medal measures approximately an inch and an eighth across. It is brass and does not stick to a magnet.
