Here’s a RARE Vintage Zildjian… FAIRLY COMPLEX TRANS STAMP RIDE WITH A HINT OF DRY ATTACK ON TOP!! What’s great about this specific 20 is that the stick definition is solid for a 75 year old cymbal. This one reminds me of one of those super old school Zildjian “DANCE RIDES” from waaaaaay back in the day because this 20 has very nice articulation but it still has that Hand Hammered 40s Zildjian light and airy complexity vibe to it. A really great and usable 20! And you can lay in on it and crash too! But neither will sound like this 75 year old Vintage Zildjian TRANS STAMP Beauty.. And in terrific shape with gorgeous craftsmanship too! Posted for your immense pleasure is this RARE. Slightly dry and still complex sounding Vintage Zildjian 1940s. 20 Ride Cymbal that is in EXCELLENT Condition!! Check out the pictures! Nicks, cracks, dents or dings on this 7 decade old 20. It’s in GREAT SHAPE with a nice 70 year old Patina that has befriended it and helps it dry and mellow out the tone a bit. This is a cymbal that has truly AGED WELL! It’s got a wonderful PLAYED IN VIBE! It hasn’t been cleaned since Eisenhower was in office! And check out the Old School lathing and Hand Hammering–that ain’t a modern Zildjian BABY! Weighing in at a gorgeous 2052 grams, this over half century old Vintage Zildjian plays like a great Medium Thin 20. Again, the stick attack is prominent. Sometimes these old Zildjians have a tendency to wash out…. The attack resides noticeably above the wash—and the wash does not get out of control. It’s got a wonderfully slightly dry tone-with a hint of hand hammered complexity billowing out. And that’s the magic of this 1940s Vintage 20. And you can crash on it too! The tone is very well balanced, not to too bright, and not too dark (it’s semi-dark). The pitch is medium to medium low. The bell rises high off the plane and it STRONG for a Trans Stamp. This beauty almost looks like a giant Crash cymbal of Medium Thin weight! Gene Krupa vibe ALL DAY! This Vintage Zildjian 20 plays like a medium thin to medium and you can dig into a bit when playing—hard to describe but you certainly know it when you FEEL IT! This cymbal has a “played in” vibe to it, which is not surprisingly considering it is from the 1940s. And this one would be a wonderful candidate for rivets if you’re so inclined-although it sounds great as is too. Amazing strong but still mellow stick definition followed by a gorgeous well balanced, warm, semi-dark, semi-complex 1940s wash that REMAINS CONTROLLED. And it’s in Excellent Condition!
