M1 Garand stock with GHS cartouche stamp Springfield Winchester WWII early
This is an M1 Garand stock that I bought from an estate. Stewart (GHS) was the commanding officer of the Springfield Armory during the production of many early M1 Garands. The GHS stamp was used on M1 Garand Stocks at the Springfield Armory from approximately October 1940 thru June 1942. The GHS cartouche would be correct for M1 rifles with approximate serial numbers 78,000 thru 691,000. Cracks in the stock seem to be stable. Ask any questions you have.
