This is cymbal was crafted when Gene Krupa was a fairly NEW ARTIST!! I have NO IDEA how this Zildjian survived in such incredible condition! This is conversation starter on a kit. It’s in GREAT SHAPE with a light, golden glowing patina. And check out the Old School lathing and Hand Hammering–that ain’t a modern Zildjian BABY! The surface is wavy and stunning! AND of course it has that Hand Hammered Trans Stamp subtle, glowing complex wash underneath. Glenn Miller was NEW! But who really needs one. Weighing in at an INSANELY THIN 1697 grams, this well over half century old Vintage Zildjian plays like a beautiful Paperthin 20 Crash or Light Ride Sizzle. The warm wash has all of the subtle complexity you’d expect from a HAND HAMMERED 1940s Zildjian. The stick attack resides just above the wash and blends into a dream of blur and golden glow. This is one of the all-time nicest Paperthin Crashes, or Crash Ride Sizzles I have ever encountered! It’s incredibly responsive and comes to life with the slightest touch of your finger. This Vintage Zildjian 20″ plays like a Paperthin so it ALSO has that quintessential 1940s “softness to it. You can dig into a bit when playing—hard to describe but you certainly know it when you FEEL IT! This cymbal has a “played in” vibe to it, which is not surprisingly considering it is from the 1940s. The bell is strong for such a thin cymbal and the center hole measures just under. As you can see this 20 is outfitted with 5 rivets, take them out for increased definition or leave them in for a subtle sizzle effect. It sounds incredible right as it is! Amazing gorgeous luscious, warm, semi-dark, subtle edge-blurring wash that glows into serenity. AND HELL YES YOU CAN CRASH ON IT!!! THAT’S THIS RARE ZILDJIAN!!
