WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: an exceptional and rare example of a Navajo Native American early squash blossom necklace, which is entirely hand constructed and very beautiful. It would date to before mid-century and still, it’s carefully designed and executed with a Naja of two kinds of twisted wire one of which is elegantly hand stamped with stamped drops at the ends of the Naja. Dangling from the center of the Naja is a slightly smaller matching blossom. The beads, all hand made are also used to create all of the blossoms, so it is aesthetically fully integrated. Everything is beautifully designed and executed and perfectly integrated. It’s a special piece! CONDITION: excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. The chain broke and a bead was lost, so in having it restrung I took the opportunity to add 8 additional beads to the one being replaced; these beads were hand made to match the originals and added a little length to the necklace. Wonderful and important necklace, very old piece with superb workmanship and an elegant aesthetic. MEASUREMENTS: End to End length of beads: 23-3/8 Hanging Length from top bead to bottom of Naja: c. 13-3/4″ Total Weight: 108.55grams Naja: 2-1/4″ wide x 2-3/8″ high Blossoms: 1-1/4″ Tall x 1/2 Wide Beads’ Size: average 8mm Unsigned which is usual for those times, and not marked for metal content but tests as sterling silver at. 925 or coin at.
