Multi-color lithographed illustrated advertising envelope picturing a beautiful, young, turn-of-the-century female (bare shoulders) holding a glass behind a bottle of soda, surrounded by the advertising slogan, DRINK BOTTLED DR. The illustration is printed on a 2 cent Columbus and Liberty violet embossed printed entire envelope (Scott Stamp Catalog #U349) issued by the Post Office Department in 1893 in conjunction with the World Columbian Exposition of the same year held in Chicago. This envelope was mailed from South Pittsburg, Tenn. July 1893, to Grand Rapids, Michigan (receiving back stamp confirms). The condition of the envelope is immaculate. The envelope has a 8/31/2019 Philatelic Foundation Certificate stating that this is a “genuine usage”, indicating that the illustration on this envelope was there at the time of the mailing and not added later.
