Nicks, Cracks, Dents, or Dings on this rare Zildjian. It’s in GREAT SHAPE with a lovely patina that has befriended it and a bit of centerhole wear because someone played this beauty! Who really cares, everyone uses cymbals sleeves today anyway. And check out the Old School lathing and Hand Hammering–that ain’t a modern Zildjian BABY! Beautiful WAVY Hand Hammering on the surface of this beauty!! This particular 18 has a beautiful blend of chime-like stick attack followed by a darker, fairly complex wash. Weighing in at a lovely 1598 grams, this over half century old Vintage Zildjian plays like a great Medium Thin to Medium Light or Small Ride or Crash Ride!! A perfect old school Light or Left Side Ride. What’s interesting about this particular 18 is that it has a very nice and light, semi-bright tone that conjures up recordings of yore. Overall mellow, and smooth, semi-controlled with a pinch of dry stick attack-compliments of that 70 year old patina and 1598 gram weight. When crashed upon this 18 has a full tone to it and plays more like a Medium Crash. This Trans Stamp 18 has a terrific played in vibe to it, which is not surprisingly considering it is from the 1940s. Slightly dry stick articulation. Subtle chime-like stick attack. Light, old school darker wash. Very full when crashed upon. Overall slightly complex “aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh” wash. You can swing your ass off on this 18 and it remains controlled-compliments of the great patina and smaller size. If you want a Vintage tone then go to the source. THIS cymbal is THE SOURCE!
