Buckle: 2 3/8″ x 1 3/4″ rectangle form hand fabricated with smooth finish (dark age related oxidation) with scallop-bezel set carved turquoise cabs with freeform silver shots and long’fancy’ old style stampwork on outer perimeter. The back side is fitted out with a rigid wire bail accepts up to 1 1/8 leather strip, or may be’notched’ for wider accommodation, as is the current approx. 1 1/2 belt; a hooked rigid prong which slips into a hole in the leather to fasten securely on; and has nail-tip hand incised letters or characters on both the upper and lower edges, probably a trader code: SIII or S or H AI – I’ll see if I can get good pics for your preview. It weighs over 1 ounce troy (or 34.57 g) on a digital scale prior to packing. Belt: Medium brown leather with handsome long scrolled tooled design (neither feminine or masculine) in good condition, pliable. Removable from buckle via two snaps where it is marked for size: 32, it has cut notches for bail and the lead edges are appropriately shaved to fit through the buckle, see Pics 3 and 4. Actual linear size ranges from 32 to 35 inches but remember wear size will be a bit smaller (you’ll likely have some denim fabric in there taking up room). The remaining identification marks are inked: HAND CARVED and 1 1/2 5600 STANLEY MANUFACTURING CO. The belt is certainly that old, 1950’s – or even older and is certainly American made. Possible a Stanley (Tool Product) belt — they have been in business since 1850’s. You will have the call on the leather maker, it is’good’ and very wearable… Maybe condition a bit, or not. Please review images for your take on age, design and condition. It was sourced from a private San Leandro silver collection. The belt and buckle are old, or older, and are absolutely beautiful. The silver, coin grade or higher, has heavy oxidation (which suits this piece just fine) an where the bent finger prong is fastened there is a small divot in the ground face of the buckle (in person this is NOT distracting or detracting one iota). It is totally hand made and has a highly appealing presentation and a nice mix of color in the turquoise – definitely natural. Track Page Views With. Auctiva’s FREE Counter.
