This is a 3-brush internally grounded field – generator. Label on relay/regulator cover states: SPLITDORF, MADE IN U. A simple test run as a motor with a 6-volt battery, it spun easily. The photographed clamp came with this Generator. The Scout 101 having these parts was retired at least 50-years ago and these remaining parts were since then, stored in a barn and kept from moisture. The diameter of the generator is approximately 3-1/4″ diameter, the end cap max diameter is 3.35″, and overall 6-7/8 long. The pulley is 2.36″ outside diameter and 0.475″ wide. The clamp appears to be for a 3-3/4″ diameter generator and the steel strap is 1.46″ wide. The size of the clamp to frame is 1-1/4″ diameter and approximately 1-1/2″ wide. There is a stamp on the generator steel shell reading, “0330” and the direction of turn is clockwise indicated by an arrow on the pulley end. Please look at photos and ask questions. I will do my best to answer your questions. In the early 1930s Auto-lite generators appeared to be used on all Indian Motorcycle Models, replacing Splitdorf generators for the next 20 plus years. I compared this generator to a. Splitdorf generator and they looked very much alike except for the casing assembly screws used. As with all electrical equipment, this generator should be tested and serviced by an experienced technician prior to installing it on a motorcycle.
